About the Port Richey waterfront

Port Richey and New Port Richey sit side by side on the Gulf coast of western Pasco County, along US 19. The Pithlachascotee River, known locally as the Cotee River, winds through downtown New Port Richey and past Sims Park before it reaches the Gulf at Port Richey.

Much of the waterfront here is canal-front: neighborhoods built around residential canals that lead out to the Gulf of Mexico, such as Gulf Harbors in New Port Richey. Other homes sit along the river or face open water, and Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park protects a stretch of the nearby coastline.

The Gulf is shallow close to shore along this part of the coast, so for any home it pays to check water depth at the dock and along the route out at low tide, fixed bridges between the home and open water, seawall and dock condition, the flood zone and insurance, early in the process.

General area information for reference only, not a listing search or a statement about any property or neighborhood. Verify property-specific details, including flood zone, insurance and water access, with qualified professionals.
